One of rock’s great legends, Iggy Pop, turns 75. The American rock musician, actor and producer will celebrate with a tour that will take him to 17 countries. Owner of eternal youth, he continues to take the stage with an overwhelming attitude. Nothing stops him. In the next few days it will be presented in several cities in France, it will continue in the Scandinavian countries, later in Germany, Italy, Greece, Spain, Poland and more.

For 14 years, he has lived with his third wife, Nina Alu, a statuesque Colombian with a generous smile. With her, he learned to speak a little Spanish. The two are often seen holding hands at award shows and together they’re a loss of style. No media wants to miss the stage.

He himself laughs and is surprised by his current way of life in a place as bright and friendly as Miami. He says he’s taking Biggy, a beautiful cockatoo, out of his cage for a walk so he can be free for a while. He saved her 14 years ago and they share a bed, a sofa and music. He created an Instagram account @Biggypop, irresistible for his fans as the videos are funny.

James Newell Osterberg is Iggy’s real name. He was born in Muskegon, Michigan on April 21, 1947. He was one lucky boy. His mother Louella Christensen (1917–1996) was a secretary and his father, James Newell Osterberg (1921–2007), an English teacher and baseball coach at Fordson High School. Iggy’s father was an orphan adopted by a Swedish family and took their surname, Osterberg.

Iggy’s difficulty in walking dates back to his childhood. had poliomyelitis and some credit his sequels for the bizarre movements he displays on stage.

The period of the Stooges where he acquired fame and recognition, was strongly marked by drugs. They recorded three albums The Stooges (1969), Fun House (1970) and Raw Power (1970). During this period, he was the first-time father of his only son Eric Benson, who is currently dedicated to acting.. He is the product of a relationship with a girl from Los Angeles named Paulette Benson.

David Bowie has been a huge career booster for the Stooges star. He was the one who visited him when he found himself hospitalized for his uncontrolled drug use. The British helped him produce two of his great solo albums such as The idiot Is want to live. In the latter is the subject The passengerone of the most beloved of Iggy Pop’s career. They also composed many songs together that are now part of history, Tonight, Sister Midnight and China Girl.

Cinema, no doubt, crossed the life of the rocker. He has composed countless songs for soundtracks. Here are a few: Crocodile Dundee II, Trainspotting, Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, Haggard, Arizona Dream, Repo Man; Black Rain, Freddy’s Dead: The Final Nightmare, Shocker and Kurt Cobain: About a Son.

Despite its worldwide recognition, the awards were quite elusive. She never received a Grammy like many other great musicians. A big moment for Iggy was when it was announced on December 15, 2009 that the Stooges would finally be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame the following year.

On May 24, he will receive the Polar Music Prize 2022 in Sweden, considered the Nobel Prize in music. The punk pioneer will raise his award. And in the meantime, he will continue to enjoy his European tour and his new life.
